These days, most companies have their own size charts, and thank goodness for that! For waist size, measure the back waistband and multiply by 2. So grab your favorite pair and do the math. In addition to measuring your own waist and hips, it doesn't hurt to take the measurements of a pair of pants you already know fit great. Whatever way you choose to do it, knowing your measurements will make shopping for pants online 1000% easier.
If you don't have a tape measure, you can use a piece of string (or even a shoelace!) and measure it with a ruler after. Break out the tape measure and take down your waist and hip size.
